Speech-to-text with a reviewable ASR workflow
Turn recordings into searchable, reviewable text with OctOpus. Keep audio and transcripts together, correct important passages, and use the results for analysis or a supported ASR training workflow. Your project connects the original recording, transcription settings, reviewed labels and model results in one place.
Start with your recordings
Upload recordings and choose the available transcription settings for your task. OctOpus keeps the original audio alongside the text so you can replay a passage while reviewing it. Describe the intended use—search, call analysis, subtitles or training—to focus the workflow on the details that matter to you.
Keep multilingual speech in context
Choose a language mode supported by the selected engine, including mixed-language decoding where available. Transcription records speech as spoken; translation is a separate task. Telephone audio uses a combined transcript by default. Explicit stereo mode separates two recorded channels, with channel labels rather than verified speaker identities.
Review the words against the audio
The transcript workspace pairs text with the recording and approximate timestamps. Replay a passage, correct the wording and mark reviewed material deliberately. Machine-generated drafts remain draft labels until reviewed. Focus that review on names, amounts, dates and specialist vocabulary so the resulting dataset reflects the speech you want to recognize.
Adapt a supported ASR model to your domain
Bring recordings and corrected transcripts into a saved training project. For supported configurations, OctOpus checks the requested model and available training path, then records the job and its results. Separate training and evaluation by recording or conversation, and compare the starting and adapted models on the same reviewed material.
Use transcripts in analysis and apps
Explore recurring topics, prepare summaries or build a searchable experience around reviewed transcripts. Keep important findings connected to their source passages for easy follow-up. OctOpus brings this text into the wider project workflow, where you can combine it with other data and build an application for the people who need it.
Example brief for a telephone dataset
“Transcribe these calls as spoken, preserve both languages, and help me review names and amounts before I compare models.” Start with representative recordings, inspect the transcripts together with the audio, then use the reviewed examples to define an evaluation set. The project retains the results for the next iteration.

Frequently asked questions
Does transcription also translate the recording?
Transcription and translation are different outputs. For mixed-language recordings, first review a transcript that preserves the speech as spoken; request translation separately when needed.
Does stereo mode identify the people speaking?
No. Explicit stereo separation labels the two physical audio channels. Those labels do not independently establish a person’s identity.
Can every ASR model be fine-tuned?
No. A requested model needs a supported, executable training path, suitable data, access and enough compute. Inspect the selected configuration before starting a training run.
